Dr. Robert B. Smith grew up in Wisconsin and is the youngest of eleven children. He met his wife, Laura, while attending high school there. They later married and are the proud parents of two daughters and a son. The Smith family loves to spend time together hiking, biking, playing card and board games, watching movies and reading. They also enjoy playing just about any sport and getting involved in the community.
Dr. Smith attended Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho, where he received his Undergraduate Degree. While attending BYU-Idaho he went in for his first eye exam while he was struggling with his vision. He always knew he wanted a career in the medical field and this experience inspired him to pursue Optometry. He wanted to help patients enhance their quality of life by improving their vision, just like his Doctor did for him.
Dr. Smith went on to attend Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon, and graduated in 2013. His emphasis is in ocular disease, contact lens fittings and surgical co-management.
He previously practiced in Southern New Mexico, in a rural community with low access to healthcare, where he primarily treated ocular disease. Dr. Smith’s philosophy is to always treat his patients with the same quality of care he would provide for members of his own family. He will work with patients to help them understand their options and educate them on how to control their vision health. He is committed to providing the people he serves with exceptional vision care in a comfortable, positive environment.
